PERSPECTIVE No. 49 – The Charm of a Waterfall

With three decades of experience, the landscape design company has just completed an unusual and spectacular project — a real-stone waterfall built at the edge of a swimming pool. A remarkable technical achievement.

While the designer behind this grand project is landscape architect Stefana Savin (from Riviera Gardens), it was the Adonis Paysages team who brought to life a magnificent garden featuring a majestic waterfall that appears entirely natural.

The initial brief was straightforward: enhance the garden and create a connection between the pool area and the rest of the property.

After some thought, what better way to achieve this than with a waterfall?

Though the idea seemed simple, the execution proved highly technical.

To support the weight of the natural rocks, substantial foundations independent from the pool structure were essential.

The stones were selected one by one at the La Molle quarry, based on their shapes. Their meticulous installation preceded the introduction of water — and once again, the expertise of Adonis Paysages was invaluable.

Following a precise hydraulic study, three streams now flow into the pool.

The fully adjustable system allows the owner to control the volume of the sound produced, from soft murmuring to a more powerful flow.

To give this complex and invisible technical work an impeccable appearance, planting pockets were integrated into the rockscape. They host hardy plants supported by a drip irrigation system and proper drainage.

Today, the waterfall creates a seamless link between the garden and the pool, forming a relaxing oasis reminiscent of an exotic landscape.
